Carol Heuchan - Australian Female Bush Poetry Champion 2008, will perform at this years event.
Carol Heuchan lives in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales. Up until about five years ago, Carol taught riding, competed intensively with her show horses, served on many panels and committees and judged throughout Australia and internationally.
Her first book 'Horseplay' led her to the world of Bush Poetry and success followed success.
In 2004, Carol won the richest prize in poetry history - a Case JX55 Tractor valued at $34,000.00! Three top selling books to date, two award winning CD's and five Australian Bush Laureate awards are to her credit, including 'Performer of the Year'. At the Australian Bush Poetry Championships in March 2007, she won in all categories.
Carol travels extensively to a variety of functions and is acknowledged as one of the foremost writers and performers in Australia.
One could be forgiven for thinking Carol had been involved in Bush Poetry all her life. Not so. Her world revolved around Competition Show Horses. It wasn't until her first book was published and friends took her to Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2003, that she even saw a Bush Poetry Competition. In the ensuing years, she has made a huge impact on the Australian Poetry Scene, amassing award after award for performing, writing and for recorded works.
Throughout the weekend Carol will entertain and showcase her talents in the world of bush poetry. Visit her at the Bush Poetry Stage.
